Actually, our first suggestion comes from a non-European league. Corinthians takes on Botafogo in a clash between neighbours in the current standing. Both teams are separated only by 2 points, so the winner will take an advantage in their fight for a position in the top four.

Corinthians are in a good run of form. They are undefeated in their last 7 matches. Furthermore, the People’s team are still unbeaten at home this season. Corinthians are holding the best defensive record in the Brazilian top-flight – they conceded only 8 goals. They kept a clean sheet in 71% of their home games.

Botafogo won their last two games. They are one of the best away teams in the division but only a few goals were scored in their games. The Lone Star conceded 1 goal per match on average in their visits. At the same time, they failed to score in 43% of their games on the road.

We expect a tight encounter without plenty of goals scored in that duel.

Prediction – BTTS: NO

Manchester City vs Tottenham – England – Premier League

BTTS Tips and Stats [Saturday 17th Aug] 3

Tottenham will travel to the Etihad Stadium to face the reigning champions Manchester City in the most intriguing game of match week 2. Both teams are among the favourites to win the competition, so they can make a statement with a win on Saturday.

Manchester City hammered West Ham with a 5-0 win on the road in the opening weekend. Such an impressive performance didn’t come as a surprise because the Citizens scored more goals than any team in the league last term. Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero were among the most prolific strikers last year and both managed to find the net of the Irons.

Tottenham had to make a comeback against Aston Villa to collect the three points. A late brace from Harry Kane secured the three points. The striker was being criticized for starting the previous campaigns slowly but seems to be finding his goal touch early in the season. Spurs failed to score against Pep Guardiola’s men in the league last season but netted four times against them in the Champions League.

Considering the attacking styles of both managers, we predict that both teams will score in that clash.

Prediction – BTTS: YES

Venlo vs Ajax – Netherlands – Eredivisie

Latest results in the league (most recent first)
Sparta – VVV 4-1 5-0  AJA – FC Emmen
VVV – RKC Waalwijk 3-1 2-2  Vitesse Arnhem – AJA

Venlo host the reigning champions Ajax in the 3rd round of the Eredivisie. The Jews impressed the football world with their performances in the Champions League last season/ Furthermore, they achieved a domestic double. However, Ajax failed to win their first visit in the division and Venlo will try to steal more points from them.

Venlo finished comfortably in the middle of the table last term. They were 11 points adrift from the relegation zone at the end of the season. The Good Old enjoyed a winning start of the new campaign beating Waalwijk 3-1 but conceded four goals in their next league game.

Ajax were held to a 2-2 draw in their opening game. They bounced back and scored 5 goals in the second round at home. The champions outscored all teams last season but their defence was weakened by the departure of Matthijs de Ligt. Because of that, we think that both teams will score in the opposite net.

Prediction – BTTS: YES
